Biography:
Elizabeth J. Rest is an associate at Idell & Seitel, LLP. Her practice is focused on representing clients involved in the entertainment industry in transactional and business matters as well as in litigation. Other areas of emphasis include trademark clearance and prosecution, copyright, rights of publicity, business entity formation, civil litigation in both state and federal courts, and in all aspects of the creation, protection, licensing and distribution of intellectual property.
Ms. Rest is a member of the California Bar Association, including the Intellectual Property Law section, the Bar Association of San Francisco including the Intellectual Property and Internet Law and Sports and Entertainment Law sections, and the American Bar Association’s section on Intellectual Property, and its Forum on the Entertainment and Sports Industries. Ms. Rest is a member of the California State Bar’s Intellectual Property Law Section Executive Committee, and is the Roundtable Coordinator for the Trademark Interest Group of the California Bar’s Intellectual Property Law Section.
Ms. Rest received her B.A. in Drama, magna cum laude, from the University of California, Irvine in 2003. She received her J.D. degree, with Highest Honors, and her Intellectual Property Law Specialization Certificate, with Distinction, from Golden Gate University School of Law in 2006. While at Golden Gate University Ms. Rest was the recipient of the Witkin Awards for Academic Excellence in Appellate Advocacy and Solving Legal Problems, the Cali Excellence for the Future Awards in Intellectual Property Law, Appellate Advocacy and Corporations, and was winner of the Fall 2004 Appellate Advocacy Competition. Ms. Rest was also a member of the Moot Court Board, served as President and Vice-President of the Association for Communication, Sports and Entertainment Law, and was a member of the Intellectual Property Law and Jewish Law Students Associations. Upon graduation from Golden Gate University Ms. Rest was awarded the Academic Achievement Award in Legal Writing.
